April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born on July 4th April, 1995. In the seventh grade she began to take guitar lessons and piano lessons. This ignited her passion to write songs. When April was 12 She composed her debut single called Different. As April approached 14 years old, she dedicated long hours creating song ideas and perfecting the music. Soon after, April started to go on trips with her dad and to write songs in NY and LA. April started to incorporate additional relevant subjects into the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart is also gaining a growing fan base as a lifestyle blogger and works for popular Clean Beauty company Ilia. Born without a left hand, she is an important part of her. It's however not the only thing she has to tell. Lockhart's Twitter profile does not conceal her status as disabled however, it doesn't make a point of it. The profile is a statement. This is the message: We all have many identities, we're far more complicated than we believe we are. Lockhart, via video messages from his Nashville home, says I don't want that to be a part of myself. I'm much more than my physical self. This doesn't influence my day-to-day routine. I conduct doing my job as normal and have come up with my own ways to adapt. The same is true for my life, and I think it should be discussed. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime but Lockhart truly inspires me in this regard. Lockhart admits to having had periods where she felt insecure about wearing certain clothing styles which displayed her arms. Today, she wears whatever she wants and posts pictures of herself in these outfits on social media, she is proud of herself. Self-love, she says, is a process. "I don't think you'll be there," she said. This is a process, and I don't think you ever arrive. The people you surround yourself with, who know you and see inside your soul are the ones you should be relying on to help you remember what you're worrying about.
